The Bachelors
(This is my favorite picture from the Dominican Rep. trip - other than the ones including my beautiful wife and adorable children, of course.) She was sitting on a porch on a road in the town square, apparently selling periodicals from five years ago or so. She was very friendly and didn't seem to have any idea that I didn't understand a word she said.
The boys and I had a good day, it was busy and hot. Is that enough detail? Or enough to differentiate it from any other day? Probably not.
We went for a drive and delivered Love Bundles, tried to repair a starter coil for a small generator (Noah thought that hitting it with a hammer would help. After I couldn't get it to budge, I let him. It still didn't work.) We moved cement blocks for the new trade school in the truck the rest of the day.
I have not ventured back into the "cooking zone" since the girls left. So far I am re-learning bachelorhood and letting the boys get the full experience. Today we had Ravioli for lunch. We ate it straight out of the pot. Isaac was very impressed with my forward-thinking man ways when he asked: "Why aren't you going to use a bowl?" After explaining that then we would have to wash that bowl he said "Oooooooooooooooohhhhhhh, good idea Dad, you're smart." I'm still grinning to myself over that one.
For dinner, maybe I'll just get out the peanut butter jar and a knife. ;)
It is very quiet and a little lonely around here without the whole tribe. Ok, only when Noah is napping it is quiet. But still, it's different. Isaac asks when the girls will be back about every ten minutes. We miss you girls! Hope you had safe travels back to MN today.
Your bachelors,
Troy Ike & Jack
