This morning we put Cheerios into Lydie's bowl for breakfast. She promply dumped them on the tray and asked for "diri ak pwa" (rice and beans) and pointed to the leftovers on the stove to confirm her request by saying "m' vle sa, m'vle sa" (I want that). We're beginning to think Creole is her first language. Other than the nasty heat rash she sports all summer, she has adapted to her host culture. :)
