Due: Praying Persistently

We are thankful for those of you that make praying for these ladies and the other things we share an ordinary and regular part of your week. We cannot express to you how much your prayers matter.

Every single woman we work with has a story and carries a heavy load; more than most of us can even imagine or understand. We so desire to see them safely deliver healthy babies. We work with a high-risk population; the prayers are necessary. Please pray with shameless audacity for these precious women. Prayer takes persistence and we humbly ask you to pray persistently for these amazing ladies.

Below are the 8 ladies that are 36 or more weeks pregnant.
If you're willing to choose one or two to pray for please
leave a comment indicating who you'll be covering.

Olina - 1st baby, already named Elizabeth

Esther - 1st baby
Mirlande - "Troy's girlfriend ;)" 4th baby coming

Mirlene - Harbor House 1st baby

Lourdes Milla- Harbor House 1st baby

Jocelyn -  5th baby coming any day

Widlene - her first baby died due to preeclampsia - second pregnancy

Alloune - Harbor House - 1st baby

For a thought-provoking sermon series on the importance of prayer that challenged our perspective on prayer and confirmed much of our thinking on spiritual warfare please go check out these links sometime soon.

"Prayer isn't magic. God is not a genie. Prayer is warfare. We're laboring with God to resist forces of evil to bring about His will on earth as it is in Heaven. Prayer is a form of social and spiritual revolt. We're revolutionaries!"

Thank you Nicky and Celina !!!

Olina is older for a first time Mom and struggles with high BP -- pray that it remains low enough to be safe and that even though she is over 35 years old she has a easy delivery of her sweet baby girl Elizabeth. Thanks SO much to you both!

The fire wife -
Thank you! Widlene has been very resistant to have hope that this baby will make it. She is past the week that she lost her last baby but she still struggles with fear that this baby will live. She looks great and her BP is in check so we all think that she will be okay but praying for her fear would be great.

Julie -
We think Jocelyn will deliver in the next 72 hours based on the way she is walking ... she is very close. Thank you!

I will pray for Alloune. May I ask how to pronounce her name?

T & T Livesay said...

Sandy -
Thank you! IT sounds like:

Aaah. loon (the bird).

She was raised a restavek (child slave) and has recently moved into Harbor House. She has a low hemoglobin (anemic) and we're working to change that but years of not enough protein and an unhealthy diet take time to reverse. She is daily coming alive and becoming a person that can laugh and have fun. She is 16 years old and has no family support system. She also appears to have a tiny baby, she measures very small. Her dates could be off -- we hope they are -- but because we don't know we're thankful for your prayers!

I will be praying for Lourdes Milla & Esther.

Hi Rachel -
Mirlene is pretty healthy and doing well. I don't have any additional info for you .... she is a calm and sweet girl and seems ready to become a mom. I wrote more about Alloune in a previous comment.

Chelsea -
Lourdes Milla is finally healthy. She is due October 5. She is the comedian at the Harbor House. She had planned to go live with her Mom after the baby is born but is now asking to stay at HH. We have some big decisions to make there and we appreciate prayers for her labor and delivery and bonding to her baby. The Dad of the baby is no longer in the picture.

Esther's baby is breech. We have done everything we can to get the baby to turn. The certified midwives are praying about whether or not to deliver her if she remains breech. Lots to pray about there.

Caren said...

I would be honored to pray for Esther.

Chelsea said...

Tara, thanks for the additional info!

I'll pray for Mirlande and Esther.

Esther and Widlene! WIth pleasure
how do I pronounce Widlene?

The Olsons said...

I will pray for Mirlande. Thank you for inviting us (strangers and friends) into the work God has called you to do!

T & T Livesay said...

Thank you Caren, Chrissy, Molly and The Olsons!

Mirlande - She is 30, lives out near the five houses Heartline built and Troy was amazed by her faith and insight into her own culture. She has spent a lot of her life in the D.R. She lost her home in the earthquake. The new home is very different and rural compared to what she had been used to ... She is a precious breath of fresh air -- speaks Spanish and Kreyol. We are worried she cannot get to us fast enough once she is in labor so please pray she can!

(Mirlene (19) and Mirlande's (30) names are so similar I had to check to make sure I matched facts to correct names and I did.)

Pronunciation guide:

Mirlene --- Meear (long e) len (like part of the word lens)

Mirlande - Meear laaah nd

Widlene - Wid (the i sounds like it) Lene like lean into something

LourdesMilla -- Lewd-ME-aaah.

I think the rest are easy?

I think all of the ladies have multiple "prayer warriors" so instead - I will pray for the staff members who will help them deliver. :) As a staff member working with young girls...I know who exhausting it can be!

Heidi - That's awesome! Names of the people who will be helping at these deliveries: Jonna, Beth, Heather, Tara, Dr. Jen

Special prayers for Widlene...I struggled with this condition also with both of my children. With Grace & a wise medical team, my children survived. She has a precious place in my heart today...praying peace, hope, and trust in our Lord for Widlene.

Praying for Esther. That was my grandma's name. Plus my little guy was breech. That can be very scary. Thankfully my little one flipped in time. I pray hers does too!

Emily said...

Esther!!!

And that's me and my bible study group.

I've noticed over the years that the women wear their nametags centered, rather than to one side. Is this a Haitian thing or just what got started around Heartline? Always meant to ask.
