Britter got upset today over the baby situation. Often babies show up with rashes and things she is ill-equipped to deal with. We have asked her not to take babies unless they have a cut or burn. There is no way for her (or us) to diagnose some of these things. She was upset because it was frustrating to her not to have a solution for this mom and her baby. We had a counseling session and convinced her that no one expects her to solve anything at all. Once the medical clinic is open we will have more supplies, trained staff and the ability to help with scabies and ringworm and the most common skin issues. We are still hopeful that it may happen in 2007.
The playset is now complete. Does anyone reading this have access to cheap and STURDY swing chains, parts, etc. The big swingset in the forefront of the photo has some serious issues. If you have a connection, shoot us an email. Thanks.
I read that flooding in St Marc killed one person, a result of heavy rains from T.S. Chris. It was overcast here today and is now raining hard, but I don't know if it is part of that storm system.
Oh, for any runners out there. Beth and I, and hopefully a few other Haiti missionaries are zeroing in on a plan to run a marthon in March in Sarasota, FL to raise money for a yet to be determined ministry in Haiti. Speed is of little importance. The goal is to cross the finish line. There is plenty of time to think it over and train. If you are interested in running it with us, sponsoring us, or offering your moral support--please e-mail us.
It's Friday night, what is everybody doing for fun? Have we told you lately that we love being here? That we love that you help us be here- that we thank you. That we love you? If not, We do, we do, we really do. Have a good weekend. :)
