2010 Christmas Extravaganza

We had fun mocking ourselves and our culture as we thought about how the technology available in 2010 might have changed the Advent story.

Jesus was sent to set us free, to redeem us. Living in our brokenness, amidst such turmoil, hardship, death, and disease sometimes overwhelms  ... But we are not without hope.

The gift God sent the world means that there is still perfect peace and promise available to us all. As we celebrate Advent and anticipate Christmas may we all find the hope, peace, love and joy in our hearts that only He can provide.

Lastly, for more serious (less irreverent) looks at the Christmas story, see past extravaganzi (plural for extravaganza ?)here:

 2009,   2008,   2007

Merry Christmas to All,

Troy, Tara, Britt, Chris, Paige, Isaac, Hope, Noah, Phoebe, Lydia

Many thanks to Ross King for the use of his song.

Three things I love about this vid: the creativity in telling an awesome message, the littles in donkey and sheep costumes, and the "Merry Christmas to All" song - my new fave Christmas song!

So.so.clever!!!! What a lot of thought and work you put into that, getting all of the texts and FB statuses up! And the darling little lamb and donkey brought tears to my eyes! So fun to see your two oldest "kids" in the video for a change, too! And certainly gets the REAL message across--what a blessing!! I'll watch it again and again, as I did last year's!

Many Christmas blessings to you all! And safe travels back to Haiti--can't wait to hear your reports from there again!

Thanks everybody for the feedback :)

Isaac/InnKeeper says the reason there are not hotel rooms available is that "there is some crazy BLOGGING convention" - I am hearing that no one knows quite what he said. :) Gotta poke fun at bloggers too or it wouldn't be equally balanced mocking.

We're off radar and busy the rest of the week and weekend ... hope your heart has time to rest this Advent season.

About 2 years ago our family sponsored a little child in Haiti and I was a crazy stalker of this blog. :-) I was looking for information on the life in Haiti and that's how I found your blog. There was an amazing young doctor living with you at that time. Groups of people were coming down to help your ministry also.

It is so good to find your blog again and watch "The Christmas Video".

The little ones are even more beautiful. :-)

Tara, do you take vitamins? Just wondering. The drive and energy??? I am sure whom we serve is your strength! Just curious?

Thank you for sharing your life's journey.

Merry Christmas to an amazing family, from Karen in Texas, USA

Haha, Tara, I thought Isaac said "a crazy blond convention." I wondered about that...

Thanks for clarifying! :-)

Nadia said...

I totally knew exactly what Isaac said....it cracked me up..but then again I DO work in a room full (24) of ESL kindergarten kids! LOL. so I can interpret a lot.

Hi all -

Karen in TX - The amazing Doctor is Doctor Jen - one of my best friends int the world and she will be living with us off and on for the coming years whenever she is in Haiti. I do not take vitamins but I should. Thanks for your sweet words. :) You're so kind!

Nadia - you might be the only one that knew!

Kathrin - the wide men brought an Iphone 4th generation - a flat screen high def. TV - and a gift card to buy the Beatles records on i-tunes :)

What a hoot! I loved to FB statuses. Too funny! I understood the blogging convention but the a blond convention would be funny too. :)

Dear Troy and Tara,
I discovered your blog today and love it. I am new to ministry in Haiti...I first worked at a hospital on the border in Jimani DR the Feb after the earthquake. ( I am an RN) My husband and I made our first trip to Haiti in Nov, we are working with Sustainable Orphanages for Haitian Youth, a VERY small group whose primary mission is an orphanage outside of Croix des Bouquets. We are coming back in Feb. I believe that someday I will be spending a lot of time in Haiti, maybe living there....God has been calling me there for a long time! I love your blog and God Bless you for your work! I am looking forward to reading your blog as you post new pages. Merry Christmas!

A friend of mine directed me to your video after I showed him this video:

It's possible someone saw your video and "borrowed" your idea. Or it may just be a coincidence...

Hi Shawn -

I had not seen that one ... it has only been up a day and appears to be crushing ours in views :) (ours went up a week ago officially) I liked that one too.
