Five Speed Paige

Today while Troy was in Ti Goave with a big group visiting "little Emmanuel", one of the earthquake hospital patients, and I was hanging at home with the fabulous five, Paige and our friend "Tex" (Harold) had a date with the truck in Port au Prince.

We're so glad Tex came to spend a few months in PAP ... it is fun to have a representative for our Austin friends here with us for an extended time. :)  (Missing you Austin lards!)

Lesson one of: "Learning to drive a stick shift in one of the most challenging driving locations in all the world" is complete.

Paige and Harold both feel that lesson one was a success!

Good job, Paige!

Learning to drive a stick shift ANYWHERE is not always easy. But, to learn to drive a stick shift in HAITI is an AMAZING accomplishment.

Gotta ask ... why, exactly, didn't you find a stick shift in TX so that Paige could learn this necessary skill? I'm sure that someone in TX had a vehicle with a stick shift.

We LOVE our stick shift vehicles, but our Big Kids did not always appreciate them. Some took to them like honey on bread ... others avoided it like the plague. One child even put off learning to drive for a few years, until we were given an automatic that she could learn on.

Hope your weekend is BLESSED!

Yay for Paige! I first learned to drive with a stick shift and it is not easy at first. My daughter, Christina, will be 16 in May. We are currently instructing her which is sometimes hair raising, LOL! But SO necessary to teach them well and trust God with the rest!
