Anticipation building ...

Since 2002 we have never had the youngest  family member in our house hit three and a half years of age  ... always another family member was added before the three year mark.  Noah came before Isaac and Hope were three.  Phoebe came before Noah was three.  Lydia came within 11 months of Phoebe.

Lydie slowed us down. Of course we've always held to the promise that Lydia is the child sent to stop us, to humble us, to complete our family ... to be the grand challenging finale.

But, wouldn't you know it - She turned 3.5 in April and we've got an itch.

Announcement: We're expecting a new family member soon!

Below is Annie, a very pregnant Mastiff due to deliver in early May. One of her puppies will become a little Livesay. We're adopting again!

Did you seriously think we were pregnant?  Come on. Only the dogs around here have time and energy for that sort of funny business.

Between 1983 and 2002, we never went 3 years without me being pregnant. You've got a lot of time left to add to that family of yours. Come on. Get to work.

ooohhh! a mastif! that pup, once he/she is grown will make a great small horse for Lydia Beth and Phoebe to ride!

and while i'm in a sappy mood (believe me, i've spread sap all over the internet this morning). a continued thank you for what you do. it really is making an impact on my relationship with God and Christ - a good one! seeing challenge Christ puts in front of us - to serve those at the edges, to love those at the top, to try to find places of peace in the most difficult places to find that - in action is a blessing for me. as well as seeing how difficult it is and being honest about how difficult this challenge He gave us is to actually act upon is a blessing as well. God and i haven't exactly had the best relationship and i'm grateful that y'all are who you are and that i get to read about it because it's helping my relationship with God be a little less tenuous. i suspect God is happy about that as well.

once i finish with this PhD (and find a semi-decent paying job - i'll go into some do-gooder job, which tends not to pay a whole lot) in a year (sorry it's so long) - i intend to start donating to your work because i believe in it so much.

"the grand challenging finale" ... I love how your posts make my life feel - if only for a few moments - just a wee bit less chaotic. Thanks for keeping it real. :)

Zion, reading over my shoulder, just told me that my comment didn't make sense.
And he is right.
I meant that the MOM told me once,
not the 7 year old.
That would be strange for sure.

SORRY!
Need more coffee!

I thought maybe, for one second, you were pregnant. That would be surprising (I've been reading your blog long enough to know that you have said Lydia is the grand finale!). Those puppies may be more work than a newborn though...I wonder how big they are when they are born? Probably as big as newborn babies ;).

I think I know you well enough to know that a pregnancy announcement would NOT be in bold and followed by an exclamation point. Funny, too, and something I've never thought of. I've never NOT had a kid younger than three.

true Kristen .... I wouldn't use the exclamation point .... plus there would be crying and gnashing of the teeth.

Hey Keight - I only have one ovary these days and it spasms (in revolt) every time Troy kisses me. This 38 year old uterus is through. Finisman!!

Also - I need to have a super witty name contest.
