Continued Medical Update

Krispe is doing alright. We are working on getting him compression stockings. Thank you, Kristin, for your offer - we are excited and know they will help with his varicose veins.

Our current prayer for Krispe is that he would be able to move from Barbancourt (where he lives now - the village over from us) and leave a community who shuns him and treats him with zero respect and takes advantage of him. We (Tipap and I) talked with him a lot yesterday and he told us that he is probably going to move here, to La Digue.

I told him that I thought that was a great idea and that there are people here who care for and respect him and a great church that he could be apart of. We also talked about how it is not okay for him to work for people who promise to pay him but don't. People think that they have the right to take advantage of him because he is "less-human" with his 'pa bon tet' (not good head) and 'malad' (sick) leg. It makes me so sad. His dad died and his mom is supposedly crazy. He sleeps in a broken down car and sometimes on the open patio of a school. When he finds work, usually mixing cement or doing odd jobs, people say they will pay him in food or money but they don't. And he just takes that, but it's not like he can stand up to them anyway. He has some scars on his face - possibly from abuse.

My dream for him is to be able to live in a place where people care for him and will give him the respect that he deserves. We think we can find some work here at LL for him to do. Kripse deserves better than his current situation. I can't change how people view him, but we can certainly love on him and show others that he is a person, a child of God, who is to be valued and respected.

~Deuteronomy 10:18 He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.

~Luke 10:37: The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."
