I saw this link on a friends blog. It is a site of tributes to those who died on this day in 2001. It is worth checking out if you have time this week.
When I told Paige it had been five years since the attacks she was incredulous. She said "Five years is a long time Mom!"
It is and it isn't.
It is almost half of her life, which makes it seem long ago, but like all of you -- I remember so much of that day in vivid minute by minute details and that makes it seem like yesterday.
We heard. We watched. We cried. We prayed. Much changed that day. But one thing stayed the same. Even when in those terrible moments in life - we question this truth - it remains to stand up to all of our questions.
It is this-
God, who understands our tribulation, loves us. He sent His son for that very reason. He grieves when we grieve. He waits for us to come to Him. His promises are eternal. This life is temporary.

It says a lot about humanity that when God came and invited us to share his life, we said no. But it says even more about the Lord that he wouldn't take 'no' for an answer.
On that first Easter morning, the rock that separated us from God was rolled away, and from the darkness of a tomb, the Risen Christ extended a hand of friendship once again.Jesus went to a lot of trouble to save us, yet the only thing he asks from us is to let him into our lives, let him walk with us as we make our way through this world, a world that can be no less cruel to us than it was to him.
Anyone who has never had a difficult day; anyone who has never faced a trial of one kind or another; anyone who has never experienced loss or loneliness, deep hurt or disappointment -in short, anyone who has somehow managed to avoid the harsh realities of life -- can go ahead and say no to Christ.
For the rest of us, though, it's a good time to make sure our hand is firmly in the Lords, not just on Easter and Christmas, but every day, because he is the only living person who knows his way back from the dead.
And we should always be strengthened in the knowledge that the hand leading us to eternity has a nail hole through it.
Praying today for all who grieve. Praying today for all who are lost. May they find Him and in Him may they find comfort.
