Even though I live in Haiti, it is still easy to take our blessings for granted. I still live in a house with running water in the sinks, toilets, and showers. I forget to be thankful for that each day.
This little girl rides a donkey down from the mountains behind us (it is an hour and a half on foot) to fill old cooking-oil containers with 'clean' water from our well. I watched her fill them this afternoon, load them back into the donkey's packs, and turn around to go back up the mountain. I don't know how soon she'll have to do it again.
"Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." (John 4:13-14)
We are thankful for both the living water and the running water God has blessed us with.
