Today Noah asked me-"Ma what is temptation again?"
I replied-
"When you really want something. Like if you are trying not to eat junk food and your friend has a giant chocolate cake on her counter-top, or if you are trying to stop smoking and you keep seeing cigarettes everywhere - you might be struggling with temptation."
Noah thought on that for a moment and then said-
"Okay then let me give you a **sample of that Mom" (**example)
"It is like when you're on a really long run and you're listening to your ipod and you run by some soup and you see it - just sitting there - and you really want it badly."
Not exactly. No. At least not in my running experience.

I'm a little behind on reading your posts, but wondered if you've read the article in the New Yorker about adopting from Haiti. As an adoptive mother of two girls born in India, I thought the author did a great job of discussing the history of international adoption and the dilemmas we face as adoptive parents.

On another note, thank you for the updates and the work you are doing here and in Haiti!

umm, yeah...no side-of-the-road-soup for me either, thanks...an unopened package of Little Debbie Swiss Rolls, however, will tempt me no matter where it happens to be laying...
That is the funniest thing I've ever heard! So completely unrelated to the examples of temptation you shared with him. Perhaps you should try this: "It's super hot outside and all you can think about is the delicious frosty ice cream you had with Daddy at Dairy Queen. You walk by the DQ and you've got money in your pocket, but you promised your mom you wouldn't eat any sweets. But your'e really, really hungry and it's really, really hot outside..."
I read that out loud to my 14 yo dd who runs and she is cracking up! She said, "Yeah, I always get a craving for a soup break in the middle of my run!"
That was so cute! Thanks for sharing!
Blessings,
Sandwich

Might be the funniest thing I have heard in a while. I know after a hard 18 miler, I'm always craving a big bowl of tomato soup.
