Sis Mwa

Six months have passed. I was going to try to avoid doing the obligatory six-months-after post.  But all day long I thought about people I love in Haiti.  I thought about their situation. I thought about their pain. And I changed my mind.

I know the problems are endless and the needs are great.  I know the mountains are large.  People are suffering.  Things seem not to improve. It feels almost insurmountable.

But I also know ...

As the love of Christ compels us, we must recognize that He gave us all hands, hearts, and gifts that are even more endless.  We must believe that our ability to advocate for others is great. We cannot turn away from what hurts us to see. We cannot give up on things that frustrate us. He is bigger and more able than we know - if we all respond with His generous love - things will change.  I believe it.

Please pray for Haiti today.

I don't even know you guys personally, but I'm praying for you as you re-live this day.

I know that our God is the same as He was that day 6 months ago when our world was shaking. He took care of me then and will continue. I saw His love for His people through that terrifying time.

I'd love to talk with you guys sometime if you are still in the states!

Thanks for posting this, Tara. Although I have been obsessing about Haiti news for months, for some reason I can't read any of the news stories today. Your words are very welcome.

Dear Livesay Family,

As you go through this difficult day of remembering, I hope you hold the photo of Marjorie, looking out the window of her new home, close to you hear.

To me and my friends, that photo says it all - the sufficient foolishness that you pray for - You (Paige to be exact!) has put that smile back on that lady's face and life. And also to the many more you have helped.

There is much still to be done. But one day at a time - that's how the Lord taught us to pray.

God Bless you on your continued journey to brind his love to the world!

Thank you for this post Tara...I have thought about Haiti all day...I have thought about your families desire to be 'right where you are supposed to be'...I have thought about the McHouls, Buxmans, Tlucheks, Joanna and all the others with a passion that is so strong that is touches lives everyday! With your permission, I would love to read your words at our benefit for Haiti next week. As I have been doing research this week and planning what to say, I have struggled with sharing the reality of the size of the needs in Haiti and not overwhelming people to the point that they feel there is no hope. I want to share the hope that I have seen in Haiti and through those working there now. You balanced it perfectly...it helps us to remember that with God all things are possible...with our efforts, His strength and with Great Love!
