Fevers of all varieties ... Britt has spiced things up a bit. Prayers for her are appreciated. She has Typhoid.
She will start on Cipro tonight and should feel better very soon. We had her vaccinated for this but she is hard-core and apparently she falls into the 20% category --- it works 80% of the time.
She went to Cazale. Got to watch a surgery (which was pretty cool according to her) and then eventually admitted to Lori that she was burning up and felt like crap. She emailed and asked to come home. Lori sent her for lab work and the results are back already. It may be a Haiti record! Troy went to get her. She is home and resting. We are teasing her about this:
The most notorious carrier of typhoid fever, but by no means the most destructive, was Mary Mallon, also known as Typhoid Mary. In 1907 she became the first American carrier to be identified and traced. She was a cook in New York at the beginning of the 20th Century. Some believe she was the source of infection for several hundred people. She is closely associated with fifty cases and five deaths. Public health authorities told Mary to give up working as a cook or have her gall bladder removed. Mary quit her job, but returned later under a false name. She was detained and quarantined after another typhoid outbreak. She died of a stroke after 23 years in quarantine.
So, no longer Britter-Critter ... but "Typhoid Britt", Mary's replacement just 99 years later. ;-)
