Saying goodbye is tough. In a weeks time we come to love and respect a lot of the Docs, Nurses, and PAs and EMTs. The airport run to drop off and pick up was mid-day and that sort of messed with the flow of our bigger-truck ambulance runs in and out of the Cite Soleil area. It meant that the last truck load of patients today showed up at about 5pm - and it was a lot of people. Most of the staff did not finish until almost 9pm. We're pooped out and I am too tired to tell the stories in detail.
Quickly with photos to tell a few of the stories ...
Troy and the smaller "ambulance" - Jen loading patients for Troy to move
(Compliments of a truck loan made to us by World Wide Village)
Below is the U of Miami field hospital. The first picture is a triage area for Ortho cases and the second photo is one of the two big tents that they use before and after surgery. Paige jumped in (third photo) to translate for the Docs there while we dropped off a few of our more complicated patients late this afternoon.
This is a little 12 year old guy that brought in his 3 year old brother ... Both boys were very dirty and did not have much clothing to speak of. The little guy had bad burns on his torso. The older brother cried and cried for his baby brother, it was heartbreaking. Paige tried hard to cheer him up but he was worried that he had made a bad choice to bring his brother without telling his Mom and Dad, who were not home at the time. He was also in charge of three other siblings, and thought he might be in trouble for leaving them home alone. Pray for these two guys and their family. Their names start with N's but I would ruin the spellings if I tried to give you the full names. It is unimaginable the hard choices this big brother had to make today.
Everyone says I am happier now that Paige is back home. Maybe that is true. :) I just love being with my kids and even being able to have one of seven here is healing to my soul. Paige jumped right in on three hours of sleep and is enjoying being a small part of this effort.
I was supposed to have a web-cam date with Lydia tonight but I missed getting home in time (by three hours) -- :( I am so proud of Britt and Chris for the work they are doing with their little siblings and I am getting antsy to get a date on the calendar to go to them.
Over all we had kind of a tough day. We got turned away at one hospital, went to the next and were told that soon they will be saying "no" too. Beds are filling up all over town and people are working at their max capacity. I am praying for a new solution to come soon for our most serious cases. Jen has been working her buns off and staying patient. Troy had a moment of not so patient today and was Mr. snappy-crabby-cakes to me and Jen ... lucky for him we love him and will give him a free pass. ;)
While Troy was out at the Comfort ship helipad he met a sailor from the U.S. Navy named Corwin. It was nice to connect with him - he said he reads the blog and he is married to a woman who still has family in Leogane (south of Port au Prince). Thankfully he reported that his in-laws are well. It just entertains us to meet people who read ... seems kind of odd or silly to us -- but also, so fun!
When it comes to mind please pray for the Heartline team - led by John and Beth McHoul with about 30 others currently coming along side them. Pray for the night-shift nurses that are working with a lot of patients at once.
Pray for World Wide Village, the other ministry Troy and I work with in Haiti. Tomorrow they/we will be bringing in a 50 bed mobile hospital to be set up in Leogane for the next six months.
Most of all, please keep praying for the hurting Haitian people, the lost, the afraid, the forgotten and scared. "Bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." Amen.

Did you see that Troy was quoted in Time magazine!! Go Troy!
I know this might not be ideal but I want to throw it out there. We have a very nice Guesthouse in cayes. We are willing to use it however needed. I think it could be a rehab center. We work with Haitian nurses who could help the patients and I am hoping to fly down soon with rns and therapists. If you think this would be an idea worth pursuing to get long term housing for some of your sicker people let me know. You are doing an amazing job and are such an inspiration to me. Email me if you want to talk.
I am a stranger to you, but am praying for you, for all who are helping you and for the Haitian people. God bless you for the work you are doing. Hang in there.
Thank you for taking the time to blog... We all appreciate hearing from you. Glad Paige made it and was able to jump right in. Yay Paige!
Continuing to pray for God's strength and comfort for each of the Livesays and the extended Heartline family. Praying also for the N brothers... thank you for sharing their story.
Thank you for telling the stories so we can be specific in our prayers. May you and your team be renewed and encouraged tomorrow.
Sending hugs to all before I go to bed . . . will be praying for you as I go to sleep.
May God hold you all.
My heart and prayers are with you all. xo
Okay, don't know what happened to the first comment I typed. Just wanted to say I'm praying for you guys. You are all such a blessing to the precious Hatiatians. Wish I could be of help. Wondering if the docs are keeping medical records of the patients. I am a medical transcriptionist in the States. Could I be of help in that way? Let me know.
So glad that Paige is there with you. Chris and Britt will be fine ... you have raised up a wonderful young daughter who will step up to the task. Two years ago, my husband and I traveled to Ghana for "two weeks" to bring home our 3 new children. The 2 weeks turned in to 6 weeks. We had left 7 children home alone with our 21 y.o. son (w/ NO extended relatives). They all did fine. Yours will too.
Praying for you all.

Thank you for keeping up the blog amidst all your hard work and exhaustion. I really appreciate hearing news from Haiti now that it's off the news here in Ireland. I won't forget you and I'll make sure people here don't either. M
Praying Continually!
Ya.All doctors, nurses & medical staff & all are doing really commendable job. I wish I can also donate for Haiti like them.
Seeing Paige in her element just freaks me out with joy!!!!!
So many prayers Tara.....
http://www.haiti-relief.org/ or www.worldwidevillage.org are the only two organizations on the ground in Haiti that we are endorsing.
Other comments with links will not be removed but you should check out HOW they are using your money and make sure you know if they are legit and actually working on the ground here. They should be able to prove they are a not for profit and have a record of service.

Yay Paige!!!
Please as you get a chance.....let us know about the 12 yr and 3 yr old boys and their family you wrote about.....so touching......
May God continue to sustain you!
Prayers being sent your way!! Praying for strength endurance, patience and the ability to see God's hand in what comes next for you all. My heart and prayers are with you. What an amazing help you are all for God and the Haitian people. I check in daily now for your updates and post them to my facebook page. Thank you for the updates.

you don't know me, but i feel like i get to know you better each day as i read your blog and pray for you, your family and the lives you are touching everyday.
thank you for your detailed accounts, so i am able to pray for these people by name. you are an inspiration. i am praying God will give you much rest in short periods of time so you are able to continue on with the race he has set before you.

I am so moved and encouraged by what you all are doing. I thank God that He has given you health, mental and spiritual strength, and stamina for such a time as this.
When I read unfair media criticisms of christian relief agencies working in POP, I get angry, when I think about all the incredibly sacrificial work all of you are doing. The critical journalists should instead come and help with maggot removal, and dressing wounds, in your clinic. But then, maybe not - they would probably only get in the way. I guess I need to pray for them as well!
Blessings and prayers,

I have never been happier to see our "new" pickup truck full of people getting help! And to think that we debated whether to buy that truck. Wow! God is SO GOOD.
Thank you ALL - we love you and miss you.
PAIGE!!!! so glad you are able to be there and using your gift, and making your mama happy. Sweet(:
You and RHFH are linked on my blog. Thank you for the work you are doing. We praise God for you daily and stand with you in prayer. It is no accident you have the supplies you need.
Do you check your comments for offers of help? If Troy can't be reached via Twitter and your email box is full, this comment section seems the only reliable way to reach you.
You people are beautiful and so is the work you are doing. May God strengthen you for the task.
May I just say that the truck Troy is driving around is TOTALLY COOL?!?!
Also, I was wondering if Phoebe got to go home to her family in all of this?
Much love to the Livesays and Company!!!
Poor Troy. You can kind of tell that he's getting a little over-loaded, but then again, who wouldn't?!? My thoughts are with you guys and all affected every day. Unfortunately, the media in the US has all but cast aside Haiti completely. They are now reporting about rapes, which are completely tragic, but unfortunately expected in such cramped, poorly supervised, "living" conditions. As much as the public needs to be aware of the various crimes, I still think the emphasis should be on getting food, water, diesel, and medical aid to the area on a long-term basis. The various government and police organizations do need to do something about patrolling these areas sooner than later though. What breaks my heart right now are the unsupervised children being turned out of hospitals and sent nowhere. Well, thank goodness for people like you guys. What would we do without you?
I'm glad to see that Paige is back. She is such a blessing to the people of Haiti, and you can always see that in the pictures! Still praying for you all. If I ever make it to Haiti, I want to meet you all! I have been following your blog for about three years now. Praying for Britt and Chris as they take care of the rest of the children. Have you had anything happen with getting Phoebe and Annie to Texas?
Just a quick report to say that I talked with Tom McKnight this morning and he arrived home safe and tired late last night....full or miracle stories and even deeper admiration for your daily work than he already had.
We are forwarding your link to everyone we know and keeping your work in front of our community now that media row has gone back to the infotainment business again.
Troy's tweets have captured some of the most condensed and vivid images of all for me...thanks for those, too.
Praying praying praying
PHOEBE AND ANNIE DID get out of Haiti. They are not with Britt and Chris but they are both doing great. Thanks for asking.
Troy and Jen and I are reading thec commnents when we can and trying to follow up on leads for suppies and personnel. Thanks everyone for your tips and ideas. We have not had much time to chase leads down but we are tying. We are 100% fine on supplies now --- have EVERYTHING we need at this time and we're very thankful!
I just sat and read your entire blog.. WOW!!! I cannot imagine the things that you have seen. It has touched my heart to read about the wonderful things that your team are doing to help these people. I cannot offer much help, I do not have the skills needed, but I can offer prayer. We pray for the people of Haiti each night during family devotion, but will also call out your team in prayer for God to give each of you the strength you need to make it though each day. Blessings to each of you.
you guys are so my heroes! We may never meet on this earth, but I look forward to our fellowship on the other side . . . my prayers are with you and your amazing work. Praying for your children, too.
Shawn from Oregon
Troy and Tara,
We have not yet met, but know similar people. I have been reading your blog every day and want to tell you I am praying for you and want to let you know of another connection for you. My home pastor is serving on board the USNS Comfort as the chaplain. If you ever need him, his name is Dave Oravec and he is a wonderful man of God. He would know me as Betsy (Elizabeth) Derr from his hometown in Maryland. I am a pastor now in New Jersey, but I was mentored in College by wonderful Campus Ministers, named Chris and Terry Noyes, who know the McHouls and still support Heartline Ministry. I am also curious to know if the Jeff Denlinger you know , is the pastor from PA I know. Anyway..you are in my thoughts and prayers every day. I spent the summer of 1990 in Haiti and it is close to my heart!
Eph 3:14For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
You are doing an amazing job! As many others have said, I don't know you personally, but got to this blog through another friend, who is also helping Haiti. I just want you to know that people on the other side of the word are reading your blog, wishing you and the Haitians strength and definitely not forgetting you. Through your blog I have seen how things really are in Haiti & how many wonderful, kind and tough you and the Haitians are.
All the best,
Outi from Finland
praying for you all and for the people of Haiti! We dont even know.
I just realized that I said we only endorse two organizations ... that is not really true at all. We support the RHFH ministry in Cazale and many others doing good work. I was trying to tell you to make sure you LIKE and BELIEVE in the places you donate to --- for instance, giving to UNICEF is something you might want to think through ... the link above left by John is going to be split between the Red Cross and UNICEF - (I asked) - and you might want to know that prior to giving.
I stumbled across your blog after the earthquake...now I'm hooked. You guys rock! I will be on a relief flight delivering supplies on Tuesday...only on the ground for 2 hrs....but MY dream would be to meet TROY! Not Anderson Cooper or those guys...TROY is my rock star! Prayers to all of you.
I just think that you and your family are amazing.
Troy,
I know you are super busy, but your hair is freaking me out. The picture of you in the truck was not natural.
Please cut your hair.

Please update us on the N brothers,(when you can) just broke my heart in two. It made me think of my own children and how they would react in the same situation.
Thank you so much for blogging. I'm not even sure which of my friends recommended this blog (someone who knows you personally), but it's so wonderful to have specific people and needs for prayer. You are truly the hands and feet of Jesus right now! Thank you so much!
There is no doubt in my mind what so ever that Profit lance will show you how to make money online, but there are many obstacles your going to face in order to do it or to get to where I am at. What I mean is, there's allot of information, tools and resources in this course that your going to have to get familiarized with before you can become successful. Yes you will earn money but to make a living out of it your going to really need to understand how everything works.
